As in the battenkill, large arbor by orvis? well if it were me i would go for the big game, simply because its got plenty of space for larger fly lines, like the 8 and 9wts you will be using for steelhead. The trout version only goes up to a 7wt which would not hold sufficient backing for fishing for steelies. I don't use orvis BLA reels for steelhead and salmon, i use Ross momentum reels for the simple reason that they hold more backing and have a better breaking system than orvis reels in my experience with big fish. Theres nothing wrong with orvis reels, i use them for trout i just prefer ross for bigger fish, also i suggest GEL-SPUN backing becuase it allows you to use more and keep weight and bulk down, you will need the backing for steelhead and salmon.
