Frequently Asked Questions...
I'm wearing a green dress and silver open -toe strap sandals - what colour do i paint my nails??
i'm olive skinned (is red nail polish too tacky??)
The dress is a an emerald green colour, knee length with an asymetrical hem!!
Answer:
it depends on many factors. what shade of green is the dress? are you going to be out in the day or night? what length is the dress? how old are you? who will you be around? and most importantly, what does your own personality tell you? i think for overall just clear polish and clean nails are nice. maybe a shimmer cream/cappuchino/bronze to match your skin, but to still add a lil sparkle interest. the key word here is SHIMMER, and skintone. like oatmeal-ish or cinnamon and milk. STAY AWAY from mettallics or irridescents unless you are going to a dance club. the french tips would look good if your dress is mint green. but if your dress is a bright kelly green, like grass, i think red is completely appropriate, if it is night or during the day in an evironment with lots of color as well, like a garden or a dinner. green and red are complementary on the color wheel, (across from eachother) and so they naturally look good together, ESPECIALLY in spring summer fall months. i think it would be tacky if you wore red and green together in winter, too christmasy. unless you were going to a fun cheesy holiday party. (bust out the giant dangly gingerbread man earrings!!!) just don't overdo red nails with bright red lipstick too. wear clear/nude gloss with red nails. anyways, if your dress is more of an olive army green, a dark plum/wine might be nice, or again, the skin-color shimmer mentioned above. you also might want to change the color of your shoes. with bright or darker greens, i would go with a strappy chocolate brown suede or gold instead of silver. but silver is fine for a mint dress. and also, make sure not to mix metals by wearing gold shoes with sterling jewelry etc. hope i helped and didn't confuse you.
