Riding A Tricycle Vs. A Normal Bike
We can definitely say it's not something you would normally consider when purchasing a bike, but the Westport Adult Folding Tricycle is becoming a popular commodity. Even though we normally think of young children riding tricycles before they learn to ride a two-wheeler, avid bike enthusiasts have realized that adult folding tricycles can offer plenty of riding benefits. So we decided to do a little research and this is what we found.
Is it Comfortable?
We just couldn't' get out of our minds that we were riding a tricycle that is usually reserved for kids and people who can't ride two wheelers, but we were pleasantly surprised by how sturdy and comfortable the Westport is. The bike itself is made up of a strong steel frame with a low step through design that makes it easy to get on and off, and there is also a good suspension system that makes it so that you hardly notice that you're going over any bumps.
Three Wheels?
Are you still wondering why the Westport Tricycle has 3 wheels? Well, it definitely takes some getting used to, but the stability alone is great for anyone. You're less likely to fall off, the seat is wide enough to sit on it for longer periods of time, and the upright handlebars make it much more fun to ride. The Westport Adult Folding Tricycle can give you all these benefits, as well as several others.
Extras
If you're looking for a little more, the Westport Adult Folding Tricycle also comes with a cargo basket so you can take things with you. Whether it's riding up to the grocery store for some goodies, needing to deliver something down the road to a neighbor, planning a picnic, or anything else, there are plenty of items you can place in the basket. Plus, you're going to get a lot of attention when you ride around your neighborhood on the Westport Adult Folding Tricycle.
Foldable?
Yes it sounds a little odd that you can simply fold down your Westport Folding Tricycle. We tried it out for ourselves, and it was actually a lot easier than we thought it would be. You will also enjoy that it doesn't take up a lot of space, and you can pack it in your vehicle if you want to take it somewhere.
The Westport Tricycle may not look like other bikes, and it may not handle like other bikes, but after taking it out for a ride we found out why this item is likely to be hot this year. It's fun to ride, it's got a wide seat and upright handlebars that make it very comfortable to ride and it folds up to accommodate even the tiniest of storage spaces. All in all, we would definitely recommend the Westport Tricycle to all biking enthusiasts who also thought that all good bikes came with two wheels only.

Environmental Health Perspectives: bikes save money, lives (Bike Radar)
What size impact can bicycles have on the planet? According to a recently
study published in _Environmental Health Perspectives, _it could be as much as
US$3.8 billion a year from avoided mortality and reduced health care costs.
The study, conducted by a team of scientists at the University of Wisconsin,
reportedly factored in data on air pollution, medical costs, mortality rates,
car accidents and physical fitness and “found that if inhabitants of the
sample region switched to bikes for half of their short trips, they'd create a
net societal health benefit of $3.5 billion per year from the increase in air
quality and $3.8 billion in savings from smaller health care costs associated
with better fitness and fewer mortalities from a decreased rate of car
accidents.”
That’s the good news, but according to Maggie Grabow, Ph.D. Candidate,
Environment & Resources at the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, we
still have to get there. “The United States is definitely trending toward
‘bike acceptance’ but we have a ways to go,” Grabow told _BikeRadar_. “Our
hope is that when people read the benefits of our study - that by replacing 50
percent of car trips with bike trips ...
